Today the jury convicted Abby Toll of aggravated animal cruelty. This is a victory for Yoshi (formerly Rex) and Peanut who were the victims in this case. We are so thankful for the actions of the Boulder Police Department, Animal Care and Control and the Boulder County District Attorney's office in ensuring this case was prosecuted and justice was delivered.
With April being Prevention of Cruelty to Animals month nationally, we celebrate the conclusion of this cruelty case which has sent a strong message that hurting animals is never acceptable.
I am so happy to report that Yoshi and Peanut continue to thrive in their new families. Your support of our organization allows the Humane Society of Boulder Valley to be the safe haven for animals who have been subjected to neglect, cruelty and abandonment. From critical medical care to helping animals trust people again, we are committed to giving these deserving pets a second chance at life with a family they can feel safe and loved within.

So glad that justice was served here. We have a wonderful dog we adopted from HSBV four years ago when she was a puppy. At 12 weeks, she had already had her mouth duck-taped shut by those who believe that it's okay to harm animals this way. Now, she is the most gentle, wonderful, loving dog, even though she still carries obvious fears of strangers. I'm so thankful that we got her at the HSBV.
