Every day there are dozens of incredible individuals who take time to care for the animals of HSBV. Before or after work, on their lunch hour, with their kids, friends and spouses – these wonderful volunteers give their time, energy, compassion and love to help every animal in our shelter. They work side by side with our staff, giving support and enabling our team to do so much more for each individual animal. They work in every department of our organization, including our Thrift & Gift Shop. These individuals are our volunteers, and we simply couldn’t enhance and save the lives we do without them.
We asked our staff to sign a big thank you banner that is now hanging in our lobby to celebrate this week being National Volunteer Appreciation Week. And here are some of the things we said:

The list goes on and on. What struck me were the common themes all of us see in our volunteers. It’s that love, that commitment and the ability to exceed our expectations of support that makes each and every day better for the lives of the animals and the people who come through our doors. We are so honored to be the organization our volunteers have chosen to donate their time and talent for so many thousands of hours.
Thank you for being the inspiration you are to our organization and this community! And while we are shouting out your praises during this is one week of special recognition, we celebrate the contributions you make every day.
